Makerie Workshop - Event Builds

WHAT IS IT?

Makerie Workshop is a free creative makerspace for teens where art, storytelling, and technology collide. Teens work together — guided by skilled artists, engineers, and makers — to design and build immersive story worlds from the ground up.

Each week teen makers gather together to bring their stories to life through hands-on building, coding, sculpting, sound design, and set creation. Their final projects become full-scale, walk-through experiences — part art exhibit, part escape room — where visitors can literally step inside the worlds teens have imagined.

Think Meow Wolf, but on a grassroots scale: entirely designed, built, and powered by teens, with mentorship and materials provided by our community.

When the build is done, we open it to the community to come enjoy and show off all their hard work.  Ticket sales for these events go directly to fund our program and keep Makerie Workshop free for teens to attend.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Makerie Workshop is for primarily for teens ages 14–17 (mature 13 year olds on case by case basis) in Gainesville, FL and the surrounding areas, who love to make things, build things, and dream up wild ideas. It’s for the storytellers, inventors, artists, coders, and tinkerers — the ones who like to get a little weird, try something new, and bring their imagination to life.
We’re here for teens who are looking for their people — a creative community that values curiosity, collaboration, and self-expression. Whether you’re into art, tech, design, or storytelling, there’s a place for you at the Workshop.

If you’ve ever wanted to help build a world you can actually walk through — this is your place.
